What’s New in Pop Music This Fall
Fall is always a season of experiences to look forward to: football, Thanksgiving, and pumpkin spice lattes, just to name a few. For pop culture junkies and music lovers, fall is also the time for new album releases before the holiday season. This fall, the music scene belongs to well-established female pop stars. Here are some releases to look forward to:
P!nk, Beautiful Trauma — Oct. 13
The goddess by the name of Alecia Moore is releasing her seventh studio album on October 13 through RCA Records. It’s her first album since 2012’s The Truth About Love, which included hits like “Try,” “Just Give Me a Reason,” and “Blow Me (One Last Kiss).” If Beautiful Trauma’s lead single “What About Us” is any indication, P!nk will probably be dominating the radio once again.
Kelly Clarkson, Meaning of Life — Oct. 27
Meaning of Life is Kelly Clarkson’s eighth studio album (hard to believe, I know), and her first after being released from her record contract with RCA. This album finds Kelly reuniting with many of the same producers from her previous album, but also experimenting with a more R&B-inspired sound.
Taylor Swift, Reputation — Nov. 10
It’s really only been three years since Taylor released 1989, but for Swifties, it feels like 20, especially since she decided to take a break from her usual pattern of releasing an album every other year. Reputation marks a major change in Taylor’s sound (“the old Taylor is dead”) following all the drama of summer 2016, and her lead single “Look What You Made Me Do” has already polarized both fans and critics.
